SpreadTruth Media Project FBCSanger.com (First Baptist Church, Sanger, TX) is now live!
FBC was looking for a fresh new look as well as a robust content management system to manage all aspects of their site. ChurchLink CMS is completing that for them. As they long to reach out to young families in their community just outside of Dallas/Ft. Worth, they knew they needed a new design, and content that was always up-to-date keeping regular attenders in-the-know and new-comers excited about becoming a part of this body!
Our hope is that with their new site they can reach more people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

(WHEN APPLYING, YOU CAN CHOOSE ONE OF THE FOLLOWING TRACKS)
Streets & Parks
An evangelism experience: you will spend your days in the parks and at prayer stations. In the parks, you will have the opportunity to conduct a religious questionnaire as a lead in to sharing the Gospel. The prayer station is a unique ministry tool. As people stop for you to pray for their earthly needs, this allows you to share with them their spiritual need of a Savior.
Summer Fun Week (VBS)
Vacation Bible School program geared toward inner city children. Summer fun week volunteers partner with local churches in New York City providing them with a planned curriculum including skits, Bible stories, Bible memory, games, crafts and a snack time. Summer fun week is for children from 1st grade through 6th grade.
Above the Rim
Above The Rim Basketball is a structured camp that provides a loving atmosphere, while reinforcing our motto: "Set Your Mind On Things Above" with each child (Colossians 3:2). We do this by spending quality time teaching fundamental basketball skills to boys and girls (ages 5 to 16), in addition to intentionally sharing the Gospel.
One Touch Soccer
One Touch Soccer is a structured soccer camp that provides a loving atmosphere, while reinforcing our motto: "One Touch," the touch of God can change your life. We do this by spending quality time teaching fundamental soccer skills to boys and girls (ages 5 to 16), in addition to intentionally sharing the Gospel.

SpreadTruth Media has just launched a new website for Forget Me Not Ministries, FMNMinistries.org.
FMN strives to help at risk children, especially in Romania, to realize that they are not forgotten by God and to assist in their development, provide for their protection and to secure their future with hope from God. This ministry seeks to provide stability and nurture for neglected children by meeting their emotional, mental, physical, spiritual and social need. FMN reaches out to children and families in Northern Romania known as the Gypsy population, or Roma. These people are neglected not only by locals but by the government as well, as they aren't even counted in Romania's population.
SpreadTruth Ministry partner Fuel will be taking 125 college students and young adults to partner with FMN Ministries as they minister to the gypsies in Northern Romania in May 2008. Please be praying for FMN and Fuel as they reach out to a people group that has been forgotten by most.

I wanted to write and share a special prayer request with you. As most of you know there have been a series of terrible shootings in the last couple of days. One of our dear friends Trish Abaca lost here sister in the shootings at the mall in Omaha. Her name is Maggie Webb and the funeral is Tuesday, December 11, 2008. Please remember to pray for the family. Trish and Mike are a godly couple and they need real strength at this time. Trish and Mike have both been on our trip to NYC. We also need to pray for YWAM and the New Life Church with the loss of these precious people in yesterday’s shooting. Thanks for your prayers.
PANTAGRAPH.com News Article (December 6, 2007)
NORMAL -- Maggie L. Webb seemed positive, outgoing and happy as a student, but her maturity was her most outstanding characteristic, Illinois State University President Al Bowman said.
"I’ve met very few 18-year-olds with the kind of maturity and poise she exhibited right from the first day of that class," Bowman said Thursday.
Webb, 24, was the youngest of the six employees killed Wednesday afternoon at a Von Maur store in Omaha, Neb. Two customers were also killed, and the 19-year-old gunman shot and killed himself.
"This is a horrendous crime, and to have it happen to an individual with a bright future just makes it all the more debilitating," Bowman said.
Co-workers and friends also recalled her fondly, describing her as a kind, supportive friend, wise mentor, strong leader and someone who was energetic even as a youngster.
Webb, the daughter of Dave and Vicki Webb of Port Byron, graduated in 2005 from ISU with a business administration degree. Bowman said he was chairman of ISU’s department of speech pathology and audiology when Webb was in his Foundations of Inquiry class, which was a required course for all freshmen.
"She was an excellent oral communicator and produced thoughtful, articulate arguments in class," Bowman said. "She also was an excellent writer, and that really separated her from her peers.
Bowman was so impressed by her work that she was one of two or three students from the class, which he taught for several years, that he vividly remembers talking to. He wrote an employment recommendation for her, and he stated in the last paragraph, "She will be one of your top employees."
Katrina Davis of Peoria worked with Webb for more than a year in 2003 and 2004 at Von Maur in Normal.
"We worked right next to each other," Davis said. "She was the kind of person who would listen. You felt supported, respected and just simply heard."
In retail, co-workers become a family of sorts because of the long hours spent at work, and Webb became something of a mentor, Davis said.
"She was a gentle graceful person who was a very strong leader. I feel it was blessing to have known her," Davis said. "The best way for me to heal is to absolutely embrace any experience I ever had with her."
Davis said whenever she has a situation where she doesn’t know the best way to react, she thinks about how Webb would handle it because Webb was wise beyond her years.
The 2001 Moline High school graduate was on a specially selected team called Natural Helpers at the school.
"The program is to be there for students in a crisis," Principal Bill Burrus said Thursday. "These kids are trained in how to be a good listener, how to be a good friend. She was not only an outstanding student, but an outstanding individual. It shows the type of quality of person she was."
Lisa Stier of Moline said her daughter, Loretta, became friends with Webb in fourth grade.
Stier told how the girls, who lived close to each other, shared "slumber parties, sledding parties, softball, Girl Scouts."
She said she remembered "just her smile. Her beautiful long hair. She was always the pert and peppy one of the crowd, always had a lot of energy, always thinking of others."
Doug Schorpp of Lee News Service contributed to this report.
Jim von Maur, president of the family-owned company based in Davenport, Iowa, said the company was reaching out to all employees in its seven-state area and offering grief counseling via a 24-hour dedicated phone service.
The Omaha store, one of 22 in the Von Maur chain, will remain closed indefinitely while the investigation continues. About 200 people are employed there.

I wanted to write and inform all of you about the exciting time we had in NYC with the Thanksgiving boxes. Let me first of all thanks everyone who gave and or prayed. Your kindness, generosity and prayers are so appreciated.
SpreadTruth partnered with the Midwest Food Bank to take 500 frozen turkeys and 500 family boxes to four different ministries in New York (First Baptist Church of Spanish Harlem, Bronx Bible Church, The Love Kitchen and the Brooklyn Tabernacle). We are so grateful that David Keiser (President of Midwest), Ralph Endress (board member) and Dale Endress drove the semi from Normal to the “big apple”. They were such a blessing.
The unloading began at 6:30 on Sunday the 18th in Spanish Harlem. At the small church they had 100 visitors for their 11:00 service because of the boxes. We then dropped off boxes at the Love Kitchen with Jewell Jones who for many years has served faithfully in upper Manhattan. We then made our way to the Bronx Bible Church and then to the Brooklyn Tabernacle. The whole day was such a blessing. The people were so grateful. Each box contained a New Testament and a tract and any announcement of that particular church.
I want to say a big thank you to all who helped in the packing of the boxes. We appreciate your servant’s heart. Without the Midwest Food Bank this could have never happened. I am also deeply grateful to all the individuals and churches who gave. There is one particular person who I will not mention his name, but without his generosity this could not have happened. Lord willing next year we will do it again next year. Thanks and have a great day.

Intersection participants had an incredible day hanging out with the residents at the Northbrook Estates Apartment complex, a Section-8 Certified housing development for low income individuals and families.
In 2006, Intersection had a community day and donated and installed a new playground system on the complex property. (View Article) It was an amazing day that has changed their community by loving with God's love.
This October, we had a Fall Festival where we had an air-filled bounce-house for the kids, 200 pumpkins we gave away and decorated, candy, popcorn, games, and more! We even had bingo for the more mature residents. We also gave away new blankets donated by IWU students to families in need.
It was a wonderful day. Even while we were setting up, children began to pour out of the complexes as they saw the bounce-house fill with air.
We try to continually partner with the Northbrook Estates to reach out to children and families that are in the margins. One woman said, "Thank you for coming over here, no one ever does. We really appreciate things like this for us and our kids."
Since we've been "loving on" this area, crime has decreased about 33% as we've engaged with residents and helped them take ownership of their community.

 | Fundraising Banquet

Show/Hide Full Article
Spread Truth Ministries has been greatly blessed by the prayer and financial support provided by many individuals for this ministry. The attendance from the Greenville area churches on our NYC Ministries mission trips has been tremendous over the past few years, and continues to grow. Because we want more people in the community to know about Spread Truth Ministries and our vision for NYC Ministries and its mission trips, we are pleased to announce our upcoming fund raising banquet.
The date for our banquet is Thursday, November 8, 2007. It will be held at The Saw Mill at North Main with guest speaker Jerry McCorkle. Jerry has a strong vision for this ministry and has served as its executive director for the past 6 years. He was the founder of the trips, taking his first group of 20 people in 1994. He was one of the original incorporators of the organization in 2001 and in 2006 resigned as an associate pastor in Normal, Illinois to work with the organization full time promoting its ministries. Jerry will inspire and challenge us through his message to reach the world with the gospel.
Because of your love for unbelievers and your desire to reach them with the Gospel, we are asking you to consider helping Spread Truth Ministries by being a sponsor, as a table host of 8 for this banquet. The table host sponsorship is $250. Your entire contribution will be tax-deductible. Table host sponsors will also be recognized on the banquet program. As a table host you will be inviting 6-7 guests who are ministry minded and maybe even a potential NYC team member. Your guests will be given the opportunity to financially support Spread Truth Ministries and its projects as well as hear more about attending a trip themselves to New York City.
As our organization grows and God allows the finances, we have a wish list of projects for reaching those in New York City. With the money raised, we plan to carry out these projects for NYC Ministries. Some of our wish list includes:
➢ Full support for 6 basketball camps, 2 soccer camps, and 3 summer fun week programs
➢ A backpack program for camp participants
➢ 500 Thanksgiving boxes feeding over 3000 people
➢ Gospel basketballs to partner churches in NYC to use as a tool in sharing the gospel
➢ Expanded evangelism program with materials and updated training
If you are interested in being involved in the banquet as a table host, please submit your contribution by October 5th. You may mail your contribution to 1801 W Hovey Ave Ste D, Normal, IL 61761 or pay by credit card online at www.spreadtruth.com/banquet07. On October 5th, packets will be sent to each table host with detailed information regarding the banquet. If you are unable to be a table host, we would still love for you to join us as individual sponsor. There will be a select number of individual sponsorships available at $35 per person. These tickets will be sold on our website at www.spreadtruth.com/banquet07.
We are looking forward to the banquet with a great expectation of what the Lord is going to do. Please join us in this fund-raiser and be a part of this exciting ministry of reaching others for Jesus Christ.
In Christ,
Spread Truth Ministry Staff

 | Church Day: Friday

Attended the Bengali church this morning. The gentleman behind filled me in about some of the message. At least I could figure out the passage in the Bible. The rest of the time I was a bit lost.
They do love to sing. It is not necessarily on tune. They just make a joyful noise. They gather all the drums, symbols, and male voices and sing out loud. The men sit on one side of the church and the women the other. There are beams that run down the middle of the church; therefore, the pulpit is placed to one side of the church. Mary was quick to notice that it was on the women's side. We have debated many times way this is so. Is it that they need it the most or are they the most attentive? You decide. :)
We had the LORD's supper, too. Not sure what the grape looking drink was. Smelled like Grape Ne Hi (sp?) but tasted like nothing we tasted before. It was not bad, just different. The bread was like the flat, round waffers used by the Catholics. Another new different taste. But we did examine ourselves, too.
We were late for church by 20 minutes. The only we missed was the music. Mary and Margaret couldn't get their sharees on correctly. Live for the men is much simpler. Too many layers of the women to wear. The idea is to hide the form of the women. It works, if worn correctly. The Muslim women still wear the black burka over this. Talk about being hot and sweaty. The women still wear this while swimming. The men have it made. They can wear just about anything and take off nearly as much as they want.
After church, we got to visit the home of a Bengali family. They attend the church. They made it themselves from the mud in the river behind the house......and so proud of it. Reminds me of the Native Americans adobes in Southwest U.S. The roof was tin with wooden beams to hold it up. The kitchen was outside inside a wooden and leaf shack. They had the clay ovens with sticks to burn to heat the water and cook the food. They stood outside the house while we ate the food.......their custom. The family of six live in the two room house about the square footage of the church's workroom. They are completely happy. Obviously, the toilet was outside. The house was extremely neat and clean. The laundry and bathing was done in the river. We thought we had public restrooms.
The rest of the day was free. Margaret A. want me to tell a new story for the English church. She pick the Lost Son [Luke 15]. It was new to me. So, I spent the afternoon learning the story. When the story got to the time when the father rejoices when he sees his repentent son.........I couldn't stop crying. It was effective during that portion of the story. I recovered by the time I got to the older son. Then it was easy to get angry. A little surprising, the Americans did really well on the activity time. We Americans don't seem to get as motivated as most of the world.......at least when it comes to biblical activities. The enthusiasm of the Nationals here makes me ashamed of my lack of excitment for the scriptures.
Tomorrow we travel back to Chittagong. It is at least 3 hours of driving for a 60 mile trip. It sounds like a song and a old TV show......"a three hour tour.!" :) We have about 7 little sessions in three days. But for the first time we will be in a AC room the whole time.........as long as we have electicity. [It continues to go on and off 3-5 times a day. You know when you get used to it, because you continue to do whatever you were doing before the outage.] I won't feel like I need to take a shower three times a day. Mary has to worse because she has layers of clothing to wear. I love this man's world.
We were talking about the Cyclone that came thru here in the early 90's. I clearly remember that time when about 500,000 Banglis died. I said to Margaret that the pictures they showed in the states were mostly women and children......this helps with working on the emotions. Not that men don't count, we just.....you know what I mean. Margaret explained that reason for this was the men left the women and children behind the protect the house from looters while they fled inland for safty. I just don't understand this. One Bangli told a worker at the clinic that it did not really matter if his wife died, because he could just get another one......his wife was right next to him. Now you know the value of some women in Bangladesh. Boy, do I love my wife.
We may not have access to a computer while in Chittagong. If not, we will see in Normal on Sunday the 12th of August.......unless you come to the Peoria airport on the 9th. I am sure Walt and Carol will be there........they better!!!!! It again will be about 40 hours of travel and lay-overs til we arrive in Normal. Pray for our safty in travel, that the luagage will arrive [with us], and our recovery from jet-lag. It is 11 pm here and 12 noon there.
We have some more shopping to do. The gift list is not complete. Since each of us brought a luagage fill of stuff for the Archibald's were have a empty laugage to fill. Mary's is closer to that than mine.....but she has more to buy for. At least that is her excuse. She keeps reminding me of how many grands she has.
Thanks for all you prayers since we have been here. We can see the effects of GOD's work thru us. It is because of your prayers. GOD still works today.
See you sooner......
Mary Grabow and Mark Campbell
P.S. Walt and Carol, please make copies of the blogs. We did not write all of this down in our journals. These are the only materials with the info about the trip. And, we both thank you for letting us come. We can't wait to share the experience with you. About about a dinner?.........I am starting to get hungry again.....for American food.

Our day started with visiting the elementary school and giving them some of the gifts we brought for them. As you would expect, we had to drag Mary from the K-kids. But it was great to see the joy on their faces as the class received the gift........just simple wooden puzzles. Honesty, I don't think they had see one before. They would just scream, clap, and jump up and down when one of the puzzles was completed. And not just the ones who completed the puzzles.
It helps to put things in prospective in what is really important in our lives. Love every minute that the LORD gives you to share anything with others. We have so much.
Next was the Heart House......for widows in the area. They make dolls, and more dolls or different kinds.....and things for the kitchen, dinning room, and family room. You just want to buy everything to help out. Your emotions sometimes get out of control. But Mary was able to control most of them. She only bought part of the store. A lot of cute stuff. Her children and 11 grandchildren will be excited. I bought a little bit, too.
Then we visited a Safari Park near by. We both had seen parks/zoos before but not like this one. While most of the animals are behind cages the others are the natural wild animals of the area running thru the park. The fences, or walls, that separate you from the animals can easy be climbed by the people.......not sure about the animals. I was able to touch a hippo. Most were in their natural habitat. The feeding techniques were unique. The one large cat's lunch was still alive. The cat was in the small cage and the monkey was running around the large cage. I guess this keeps the cat happier. It would have been neat to watch the final kill. We in America are much more careful with the protection of the animals and humans.
Then it was off the Cox's Bazar. Capt. Cox from England started a sea port there and it has grown. We got to walk in the Indian Ocean [actually the Bay of Bengal.....it is our trip and we can call it what we want] for the first time. The sea shells were a bit sparce. The children of the city were collecting for to sell at the shops in town. The typical items made from shells. And others fishing with nets. Meat is difficult to come by these days. The price of rice has tripled in the last few months.....along with the meats, vegetables, and fruits. Cheap compared to US standards but not here.
It was wonderful time having supper with some single missionaries. Just a blessing to hear how the LORD called them to this area. Such faithful doers and not just listeners. The LORD works in all different ways.
HE definitely works in our hearts everytime when we travel. We all always have to be willing.

 | Last Three Days

We spent the last three days in a camp in Banshkhali. Again, it was great. All local people of that are area (pastors, teachers, students. etc.). This ministry was started by Bob and Barbara Adolph many years ago. We met the first person saved and is now one of the pastors. They seemed really excited about getting started with the story telling. We, thru Bob Archibald, are going to start keeping up with their story telling thru email. [Bob was our interpretor because Margaret was sick] With a person as the single contact in the area........who will contact Bob........who will contact us about the person, place, story, and when the story was told every month. We are starting with every month now, because they need to start telling the stories soon. We will back off to every three months. Hope to keep some data base of where the stories are going and how they are getting there. The six days of creation and three stories John Walsh told last year in Dhaka are being told in AWANA programs thru the 10 grade. They have had success with just these three stories. Imagine what they can do with 36. The LORD be blessed.
Mary's room and Bob's room were cooler but had all the bugs. Even the palm size spiders. The bug spray came in handy. The second floor were I was was only hot during the day. No bugs. But we had AC. Saw several fox bats. They have a wing span of about 2 feet. Big bats. They are only fruit eaters. What excitement!!!! And the crickets are as big as two thumbs. The noise they make to a bit louder than the ones back in the states.
Mary wants to start a dance class. The cultural dances she has participated in is really neat to watch. Ask her about it.......better yet, have her demonstrate. Hold the clapping and laughter until the end. What is fun here made not be the same at home. She does her best.
Visiting the mountain people the other day was also a real treat. Jay Walsh started the ministry 50 years ago. It is growing. They pray that the story telling will help, because of the many unedcated people in the area. Even the most pastors.
I need to make some additional changes on the road trips around here. I forgot to tell you all that there are also animals along the road. They use the sides of the road for grazing the animals. So, add to the list cattle, lots of cattle, goats, lots of goats, chickens and chicks, and dogs, undomesticated. That is besides the birds and other wild life that need to cross the road. Motorcycles and bicycles also need to added. Now, with the big buses, baby buses, cars, vans, jeeps, ric-shaws, motorcycles, bicycles, lots and lots of people and the animals..........put all of these on a one lane road. That is what it was like for one and half hours to the camp in Banshkhali. OH!! I forgot! Add the pot holes that cover the entire road......I mean the entire road. And usually the edges of the roads are drop offs up to a foot, due to erotion, or filled with animals, people and machines. Then every thing is in the street. What a mess. It makes for many good pictures........if ony you can hold the camera still. We keep saying we need a video camera. You have to see this. Still pictures just don't cut it.
One of the groups did the Lost Son [Luke 15] and took 40 minutes. They did every possible activity with telling the story and story boards. It was great. These people love to do activities..........and talk. If only Mary knew the language, we would never get away from each session. She already hugs all the women each day, hour, and minute. This is one of those things that people love about Mary. I tease her about it, but really think it is great. It builds a relationship with the people quickly.
We have the next two days free to travel and visit some markets and caged wild life. We are looking for to visit the Heart House. A place for widows. Once you are widowed, you ususally have no place or no one to go to. They try to make themselves self-sufficient. So, we will be buying something from there. Not everything.
We leave one week from today.

 | Our first Tourist Day!

Yes, it is Sunday, but church is on Friday's here. It is a Bangladesh tradition.
Mary gave her testimony on how and why she got into Story Telling. She told the story about our first flight to Southeast Asia and talking to Eddy. This is why we both are in it. You know how we often ask GOD for a sign. HE was gracious enough to show us early. HE knows us pretty good!!!!
I gave a short testimony and then gave a short sermon. It was the "Just in Case" message. We also sang pastor's song, "Even There". Jack Archibald played the song and we sang the words. Bob Archibald had written out the words. They really loved it. Isn't good to know that something back in Normal, IL can be used to touch the hearts of people half way around the world. This was the English missionary church.
Tourist: We traveled about an hour and a half to a school for the tribal people in the mountains. We also spent one and half hours getting permission to enter the mountain area. Is was just opened five years ago. They have about 150 students. They are all so cute. Mary is always trying to figure out a way to bring a few home. You wants to add to the number of grandchildren [11 and one on the way] she already has. I think she has settled on an adoption program. We are not sure of the cost, but the HQ is in Colorado. The tribal language is not written. That is the project of some in this area. Educating people in the languages of the Bangladesh. This usually means about 3 languages. Bangali [national language], English, and your own regional language. We in America usually only know one.
To send a student to college, it cost $15 a month. College starts after 10th grade. I told them how much it cost to send a student to college in the states. That cost figure was completely incomprehensiable to him. The tribal people are the poorest of the people in Bangladesh. They are the blunt end of all jokes, looked down upon because of no education, and are considered the hillbillies of Bangladesh. Jay Walsh started a ministry there 50 years ago and has now spread to over 100 churches in the mountains.
Several of the tribal people came to the Bible Telling sessions. They are planning to work out a way to get these stories to the people. It works perfectly with people who cannot or choose not to read. With little instruction of our part on how to put this into practice, they have done it on their own. The leader of the tribal group said that this is what was needed for their people.
You thought they drove fast and crazy in the states. It is a two lane road, but with all the people, rik-shaws, baby buses, big buses, cars, vans, etc. they walk or drive like all the space is their own. You better hope you horn and brakes work. The front seat has the best view. My legs hurt after a long ride from pushing the brakes that aren't there. My hands hurt from gripping the door and seat. It is tense. No accidents............yet!!! :) Mary's plan is not to look and talk to others. This way she can't be the back seat driver and knows nothing of what is going on........outside the car. You all need to experience this.
This creates a whole new level and definition of trust. I knows GOD is worthy to be trusted, but we are still working on our drivers.
We start tomorrow in a new place. Pray for the sessions. We are not sure of how many will be attending. We will be leaving the comforts of home....the mission campus. As long as we have fans, we get along pretty well. The temperature and humility is creeping up slowly.
We saw monkeys today. A rare sight any more around here. It used to be common thing when Bob was little. We also saw the droppings of elephants. Fresh ones. Another rare sight. These ones are wild and roam the hills of the area. There has not been one on the campus in several years. :)
Margaret is sick. She will not be going with us tomorrow. Bob will now be the interpretor. This should be just fine. He was raised here!!!!

 | Calming the Two Storms...

I have some more animal adventures, but save for later.
We finished the last day of the second session with the Nationals doing all the work. Mary told the last story, Calming the Two Storms, and we did the regular activities. It sure is fun watching the nationals perform......such excitement and from the heart. Then we gave them the references for the cruxification and resurrection. They came in the afternoon session and told the rest of us the story, the storyboard, and one or two or three activities. Most of the groups did at least three activities. They love to sing and act. The way they help each other is fun to watch.
We leave for Banshkhali, the camp, on Monday. It is three days of two-a-days session. Each day with one 4 hour and one 2 hour sessions. We are glad that the both of us are here. This schedule would have a bit more difficult with just one of us. But it has been fun. Mary is over being nervous of standing in front of more than 100 people. It is a little shaky when all these people expect great things from you. We are sure glad that GOD uses the weak things in our lives to work for Him. This way we know that is only GOD that is doing the work and is getting all the glory. We are only the tools used by the hands of GOD. Mary said, Amen!!!!
We took our first boat ride of the inlet located right next to the campus. You have to ride the boats during high tide. The boats are in dry dock at low tide. No docks to load or unload. The near by rock is handy though. At least it was when we left. By the time we came back, the water level had dropped 5-6 feet. Now it is, hop over the side of the boat and into the knee deep mud. It was like being kids again. You look around to make sure your mother is not watching. Remember those days when your mother said not to get muddy........forget about that here. At least you can rinse off in the muddy water.
I killed my first none insect today. Two crows. With Bob's .22 cal. pellet gun. It makes it easy with a scope and the birds are only 40 feet away. One shot each. It was part of our boat trip. Got some first hand watch with casting nets for fishing. It is a real talent. The people surely underhand the story about the calling of Peter, Andrew, James, and John...............fishmen now fishing for people. Took alot of pictures. Bob missed all of his birds. Mary shot mud.
The weight loss program we expect has turned into a weight gain. So much food to eat. I know it is a choice......but it is all so good. Especially if you like rice. Desserts with every meal. The people are so polite, they act like grandma. As you're trying to push the plate away, grandma is putting more on it........have some to eat........put some meat on those bones.........you can eat this last bit of food.......have a little bit more....etc. They have so little but give so much.
Our first full day of vacation is tomorrow. We are heading to them there hills!....to visit the mountain tribal people. We have to have permission to do so. We have that but that does not guarantee that we will get the chance. The local gov't can just change their minds. I don't think one could get used to this. It produces alot of frustration for the foreigners here. Consistency? Change is the only consistency.
Continue to pray for us. We have basically gotten over jet lag, but the body is still adjusting to the food and climate. The body goes thru many changes. Some good......some not.
Thanks for all that you have,
Mary Grabow and Mary Campbell

The weather has changed. The wind has died down and the temperature and humility have gone up. We especially found this out when the electricity went out again for the third or fourth time. Immediate sweat. All I needed was a bar of soap. Clean as a whistle.
They seem to look down on public washing. At least for us foreigners. The males here seem to wash frequently in the river while the women wash the cloths on the rocks near shore. The combination of the dirty water and rock, how does it get clean?
By the way, with the high humility and constant rain, it takes at least 4 days for the cloths to dry. Come for a visit. Lucky for us we have a drier.
The electicity has power surges. The normal 220 can change from 180 to 300 in short periods of time. The campus for the missionaries does have a generator. So we are usuall without lights and fans for a few seconds to a few minutes. You really feel the temperature and humility change.
The propellors that hang from the ceiling really circulate the air. We need these kind back home. Ours are for decoration. True ceiling fans here and needed.
Back to the animals: Here is the dillema. Ants, tik-tiki [gackos about 5 inches long], cockroaches, and spiders. The tik-tiki roam the walls and ceiling catching the small insects. A must in order to keep the insect population down. Almost a family pet.....without proper names.
The cockroaches, bigger than you thumb, are kept in check by the spiders that roam the walls and ceilings. While visiting with another missionary here we asked them if this particular spider was a keeper or a killer. Yes, was the reply. It was next to the mirrow in the bathroom and was as big as the palm of your hand. It was just a adolescent. They get as big as you whole hand. Something to think about as you go to sleep each night.
The ants pick up anything in the house that is edible. So, if the spider kills the cockroach and leaves a bit behind, the ants finish it off. You need to eat you food quickly. You are constantly pressing the ants to the floor or table. The ants think your food is theirs.
Hey, a another good thing, we have not had to worry about flies or mesquitos. YET!!
I am keeping my eye out for more snakes. The cobras and crites [most deadly] near by have not been spotted yet. I want to see one of the cobras spread it ribs......in the wild. The people think I am crazy.......I need no more comments from you all back home.
We will write more about the sessions in the next blog. The LORD in doing great things. The last sessions was mostly the Bengalis giving their blessings about the sessions. It was great.

We did not have to do a single thing today. We gave the Bengalis the references and told them to come up with the story boards, tell the story, and do an activity [drama, song, art, puppets, etc]. They are all so talented. And their eagerness to want to do the activities. The LORD has blessed them with the ability to communicate in various ways.
We heard eleven different short stories in four different languages. The last was the best, because it was a mountain tribal group that sang from their traditional culture. This is not usually heard outside the mountains. What a treat for all of us!!!
We have been video taping some of the sessions. Yes, we also did today's. We should have a copy of this made for us. Will check it out.
We are not losing any weight. Three full meals a day and tea times [10 am & 4 pm]. I can get used to the tea times. My 10 am class at school may get lucky this year. Do you think it would work at church? It may get pastor to stop on time with all the people walking out for tea. :) At least we can start SS with it.
No animal excitement today--so far. (side note from Margaret: Mark just left with Jack on the motorcycle to go exploring!)
We had a time to let the people speak on how they could use the stories in their area of service. We finished 20 minutes later. The areas of use were unlimited. What a blessing to hear them get excited about the Word. Some [men] even got a little emotional.
They just love the LORD and HIS work. Can we bottle some of this excitement and bring it home for all of us?
This is what gets me excited about our own story telling and ministry this fall. We have seen it work in other parts of the world.
Will it work for us? It is really up to us. The LORD is willing. Let the SPIRiT move you. Get involved.

It was a day of waiting and delays.
Peoria....delayed because of the air show practice.....even though we made
it Chicago earlier than planned. We got a direct access to a runway.
Chicago....delayed because they were not sure they had put water in the
tanks or the whole water system was not working. It took about 30
minutes.....while we sat on the plane.
Los Angeles.....delayed because a person was not on the plane but their
luggage was. Had to remove the luggage. Then someone was late getting
to the plane, and we waited for them. They must have been someone
important.
Bangkok.....delayed because of cultural problems. The family of Muslims
where the lead male had all the boarding tickets and the others did not know
where to sit.....so they just stood in the aisle or sat in any seat
available until the lead man got on. Then he did not know who sat
where......? Plus, other cultural things that caused the whole mess to slow
down. It was actually funny to watch.
From the time we boarded the plane in Peoria and arrived at the house in
Malumghat,we actually spent 42 hours on the plane, layovers, and riding in a
car. Mary stayed awake by talking to Margaret in the car. I just slept.
The driving, 4 hrs., from Chittagong to Malumghat, 60 miles, is a bit
different than the states.
It is like NYC or Chicago traffic without the cars.....it is people.
People everywhere with cars trying to drive on the street. The streets
are usually two lanes with the cars, bus, rick-shaws, baby buses, and many
other vehicles and thousands of people. Ownership of the space belongs to who is
there already or the biggest. Just honk you horn and drive.....hopefully
the others will move. This was about how is was all the way to Malumghat.
The view from the front seat was the best. How I was able to sleep, still
surprises me.
There are supposed to be 112 people in the morning session and 135 people in
the evening session. Mary just found this out, and they are going to video
tape us. She is really looking forward to this.....this is after her
hyperventlating, dizziness, and fainting. :-) This large number is a bit too
much for her. She will do well, just not used to the large number or video.
As for me......I will let Mary do the worrying. Just pray things go
well.
They are going to edit it and use for their media presentation in the
area.....mostly likely without us.
I caught my first snake today. AFTER Bob said it was not poisonous, then
it was how quikly can I pick it up. It was about 4.5 feet long. I was a
true Croc. Hunter from Illinois. The natives here thought I was
crazy........I can hear your thoughts here, too. I was so excited about
seeing it, that I forgot to put my shoes on. I got a picture.
We are about to visit the compound here with Bob & Chrissy. We had dinner
with them last night after we arrived.
We will tell you later about the new high school here built by the U.S. It
was GOD's work

This has been a great day. It is all the LORD's. I am not really sure why we are here. They do not need us to get excited about the Bible Stories. Their enthusiasm for doing the activities is wonderful. They catch on so quickly and love doing anything with drama, songs, or anything that requires movement or thinking.
Their desire to know more about the LORD is a rebuke to us. They have so little of the world's material but have so much of the spiritual.
We do appreciate your prayers. The temperature is below normal. It still rains alot, but the clouds keep the sun away and the temps and humility down. Thank you for your prayers.
The snake was 6 feet long. For you Mrs. Orns it is the last snake in the country. And it is dead. After Bob A. told me is was non-poisonous, picking it up was no longer a challenge. A true Croc. Hunter from Illinois
The prayer meeting with the M's was also great. A nice dinner and prayer. Better than a movie.
Mary tells the story in the morning and I do the afternoon session. We are 11 hours ahead of you. 12 noon in Normal and 11 pm in Bangladesh.
Two sessions down and 24 more to go. We get to repeat the stories after 8 or 9 sessions.
See in two weeks.

Hello Everyone!
We wanted to say thanks to everyone participating with our Outback Steakhouse Annual Fundraiser! We're excited as both lunch times have sold out! This will help us raise funds for the Above the Rim basketball camps and One Touch Soccer camps! It's not too late to still help. You can still make an online donation to help support a CHILD, a TEAM, or a CAMP!
To do so, go to www.spreadtruth.com/outback to give to these kids online. It costs about $28/child to have them at the camps. During the weeklong camp, they'll receive not only knowledge for the basketball court, but character building skills and the message of the Gospel.
Daily giveaways will consist of ATR (Above the Rim) headbands, water bottles, and more!
We're also excited as Major League Soccer's New York Red Bull will be sending a player to the One Touch Soccer Camp in Spanish Harlem to hang out with the kids and teach them some soccer skills. The Red Bull team will also be providing a group of players to do soccer "tricks." We're very excited to have them help us reach the children of New York.
Thanks for your support!

Commonality: Intersection 2007
We had two tremendous Intersection days this year! One in Bloomington/Normal,IL (April 14th) and Aurora/Naperville, IL.
What started as a dream to see lives intersecting to discover commonality became a reality with your help. The day was filled with an abundance of laughter, tears, conversations, and love. From spreading new rubber mulch over the playgrounds at Kids Club East and Bloomington Day Care to feeding and clothing many low-income or homeless citizens at the Jesus House in downtown Bloomington, Intersection ‘07 provided an opportunity for people of various backgrounds and ages to come together and see their God-given similarities, as well as reach out to one another. Neighborhoods were united with the planting of a community garden and the seniors of the community returned to their yesteryears at the old Washington Junior High School for a night of dancing and reminiscence. The day featured so many inspiring and beautiful images of love and hope. We have received many stories from people that participated that day saying it was monumental and life changing. We hope this is as much of an encouragement to you as it has been to us. What an honor it is to be a part of something bigger than yourself that transforms lives of those involved and offers hope!
It is our prayer that the same excitement and love experienced on April 14th will fuel a movement of commonality that will sweep through our communities and beyond. Our team is already beginning to dream for Intersection ‘08. May what we experienced this year only be the tip of the iceberg!

Last Spring, one of Intersection's tracks, Simplicity (children in need), installed a new playground at a local Section 8 Apartment complex along with landscaping, painting apartments, a free cookout, a VBS, and much more at the Northbrook Estates (off of Orlando in Normal, IL).
If you are familiar with this area, the average income of residents is very low and crime statistics are very high. Our team of about 100 people had an incredible time serving and ministering to the local residents. The director said she had never seen so many residents with their families outside.
What has changed:
- Since the day of Intersection and new playground, the director has reported that only 1 door has been kicked in in 3 months. She said she was used to 20 or 30 every few months.
- Her maintenance men have reported that there is no more trash to pickup around the grounds! People have stopped littering and are taking better care of the grounds.
- The complex put on a Fall Festival for the children which typically no kids used to show up for, but there were 30 children present.
Things have changed! God continues to move and the love of Christ via His people have changed what was a hopeless area into a community of hope.
We were also able to return at Christmas and we gave over 40 brand new presents to the children that live at Northbrook. A partnership between FUEL and Intersection.
It was amazing to see the joy of the children as they got gifts.
What a joy to bless the children...
Keep praying for the Northbrook Estates, it's residents, and directors that God would continue to move. We're excited to go back this Fall of 2007.

If I give, where will my money go?
Your donation (one time or continual) will go to:
- Fund our inner city basketball camps in New York called Above the Rim
- To help children of South Africa via SpreadHope to reach those impoverished and infected with AIDS.
- To fund the localized community service project called Intersection which reaches out to the community.
- Much more...

We just recently heard a story of an NYC Ministries participant in South Carolina that met a woman that was sharing her story of how she found the Lord. She said she gave her life to Christ just after 9/11 at a Prayer Station near Times Square. This was an NYCM Prayer Station setup by the team that went to New York just after the tragic events of September 11th.
Who knows how many stories are like this that we have not heard about... God's ways are higher than our ways, and his thoughts higher than our thoughts. What an encouraging story of people sharing the Good News, and God using us to tell His story and change a life or eternity.

Welcome to the TruthBlog, the official blog of SpreadTruth. Here, our desire is to create awareness of what's going on locally and around the world, creating an urgency and excitement to put our faith in action. Here, we will also hear stories of God's greatness, look at social injustices, current events, see what various ministries are doing and get challenged to make a difference. We want to begin to shift our thinking away from the world and fully onto Jesus.
We also want to challenge you to in your faith and let you know that you can change the world! You may be a part in overcoming world hunger or poverty, but those of us who may not be large scale world-changers can change still change the world! You can change the world of your children, neighbors, friends and family. Some of you will go on to make a dent in world poverty and hunger, which seems huge. However, it's just as huge in God's eyes to share His love and truth with your children, friends, or family, and that is changing the world.
What would happen if we all reached out to our own circles of those in need, brought the love and truth of Jesus. To our aunt going through a divorce, to a neighbor with severe health issues, to a friend that is in financial troubles? If we really invested into those immediately around us, (while investing ourselves into Jesus) we would see the world around us change, and in the process, our world would change as we see God moving in and through us.
Together we can change the world! And we hope this blog is a place of challenges, information, ideas, and ultimately helps us press in and get closer to Christ on our journey's of faith.

The NYC short-term missions trip was life-changing. It seems to me that we are often very much like Martha, so consumed with the busyness of life that we miss the one thing that is really necessary - seeking first after the kingdom of God and His righteousness. The NYC trip gave me an entire week to focus completely on the kingdom of God and to work on something that will not fade away with the passage of time (unlike many of my other projects). As a matter of fact, it was primarily due to this trip that I sensed a call by God into full-time ministry. I have often wondered if there's anything I'll do for the rest of my life that will have more of an impact on eternity than the time I spent sharing the gospel with others in the streets and parks of New York city.
